As I stepped off the plane in Medellín, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and nervousness wash over me. The vibrant city was alive with energy, its streets bustling with people from all walks of life.

I had always been drawn to this place, with its rich cultural heritage and breathtaking natural beauty. And now, as a 32-year-old Puerto Rican girl living abroad for the first time, I felt like I was finally starting a new chapter in my life.

As I made my way through customs and baggage claim, I couldn't help but notice how people were looking at me. My blue backless outfit and orange skirt seemed to draw more than just a few admiring glances from the locals. But I didn't mind; I was here to explore this city and immerse myself in its culture.

I hailed a taxi outside the airport, and we made our way through the winding streets of El Poblado, Medellín's hippest neighborhood. The driver asked me where I wanted to go, and I told him I had booked a hostel near Parque Lleras. He dropped me off with a smile and a tip.

I checked into my room at the hostel and spent some time freshening up before heading out for dinner. As I walked through the city streets, I felt like I was in a different world altogether - the vibrant colors, the exotic sounds of salsa music drifting from the bars, the people's warm smiles as they passed by.

I ordered a plate of bandeja paisa and arepa at a local restaurant near my hostel, enjoying the food while taking in the sights around me. A group of friends nearby caught my eye; they were laughing and clinking glasses together over what looked like pints of beer. I couldn't help but smile as I watched them.

As I finished dinner, I decided to explore more of the city. I made my way through the winding streets, stopping at a local market to browse through the colorful stalls selling everything from handmade jewelry to traditional handicrafts.

The sun was starting to set over Medellín now, casting a golden glow over the city. I took a seat on a bench overlooking Parque Lleras and watched as people strolled by beneath me.

I couldn't help but feel grateful for this new chapter in my life - the chance to immerse myself in a vibrant culture, make new friends, and explore all that Medellín had to offer. I put down my sketchbook, looked out at the city, and smiled.
